Suffolk Rams in Somerset

Breed

The Suffolk breed was created as a result of crossing Southdown rams with Norfolk Horn ewes. The breed has been developed to become one of the primary terminal sire breeds used in commercial flocks to produce prime lambs for the market.

The modern Suffolk is a large bodied, muscular sheep with dark brown/black face, ears and legs that are free from wool. The Suffolk has exceptional growth rates, Suffolk cross lambs mature early and produce a lean carcass with little excess fat.
